This 4 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Lake Mburo Safari combines two of Uganda’s most rewarding wildlife experiences into one unforgettable journey. You will travel to the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a once in a lifetime mountain gorilla trekking adventure before heading to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park, known for its zebras, giraffes, impalas, hippos, and rich birdlife. The safari offers a perfect mix of rainforest exploration, wildlife viewing, scenic countryside, and cultural encounters, making it ideal for travelers with limited time who want to experience Uganda’s incredible diversity.

Detailed Itinerary(Bwindi gorillas & Lake Mburo)

Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe. You will drive southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through Uganda’s countryside, local villages, farms, and beautiful landscapes.

You will stop at the Equator crossing for photographs and a short experience before continuing through Mbarara and the scenic Kigezi Highlands. As you approach Bwindi, the landscape changes into green hills, forests, and mountain views.

Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge near the forest, relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers will provide information about trekking guidelines and assign you to a gorilla family.

You will enter Bwindi’s ancient rainforest and begin your search for mountain gorillas. The trek can take between two and eight hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. When you find the gorillas, you will spend one hour observing them as they feed, play, rest, and interact within the forest.

After the trek, you will return for lunch before starting your transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Lake Mburo Game Drive, Boat Cruise and Optional Activities

You will begin the day with an early morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. The park is famous for its large populations of zebras, giraffes, impalas, buffaloes, elands, topis, waterbucks, and warthogs.

Your guide will take you through the savannah while explaining the wildlife and ecosystem of the park. You may also spot different bird species and, with luck, predators such as leopards and hyenas.

After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast before enjoying a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. The cruise provides excellent views of hippos, crocodiles, and water birds along the shoreline.

The afternoon can be spent relaxing at the lodge or enjoying optional activities around the park.

Day 4: Transfer from Lake Mburo National Park to Entebbe or Kampala

After breakfast, you will check out and begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport.

You will have a final opportunity to enjoy Uganda’s countryside scenery and stop at the Equator crossing for photography, shopping, and refreshments before continuing to your final destination.

Your guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your safari.

Bwindi Forest and Surroundings

Batwa Cultural Experience
Visit the Batwa community near Bwindi and learn about the traditions of the forest’s original inhabitants. The experience includes traditional songs, storytelling, forest knowledge, and demonstrations of ancient hunting and gathering practices.

Gorilla Habituation Experience
Spend more time with a semi-habituated gorilla family during a longer forest experience. Visitors can spend up to four hours observing gorillas while researchers and guides explain their behavior.

Bird Watching in Bwindi
Bwindi is one of Africa’s best birding destinations, with opportunities to see rare forest species such as the African green broadbill, turacos, and various forest birds.

Nature Walks Around Bwindi
