The tour involves an early morning departure from Kigali, gorilla trekking in Bwindi, and a return drive to Kigali on the same day. It is ideal for business travelers, conference participants, or visitors who want to experience gorilla trekking without spending several days on safari.

Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International Airport very early in the morning, usually around 3:30 AM to 4:00 AM. You will drive towards the Uganda border through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”

After completing immigration formalities at either the Cyanika or Katuna border, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and arrive at the park headquarters in time for the gorilla trekking briefing.

Following the briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, you will enter the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take between two and eight hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, interact, groom one another, and move through the forest. This close encounter with mountain gorillas is considered one of Africa’s greatest wildlife experiences.

After the trek, receive your gorilla trekking certificate and begin the drive back to Kigali. Arrive in the evening and transfer to your hotel or Kigali International Airport for your onward flight.
