Best Time to Go on This Uganda Leisure Holiday

Uganda is a year-round destination, but the driest months (December to February and June to September) offer the easiest trekking conditions in Bwindi and Kibale, with firmer forest trails and less rainfall interrupting game drives. The wetter months (March to May and October to November) bring lush scenery, fewer travellers on the trails, and lower lodge rates, and gorilla trekking still goes ahead as normal since Bwindi is a rainforest by nature. Gorilla Trekking Fitness and Permits

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi involves walking through steep, often muddy rainforest terrain for anywhere between two and six hours round trip, depending on where the habituated family is feeding on the day of your visit. No technical climbing skill is required, but a reasonable level of fitness makes the experience far more enjoyable, and porters are available to carry day packs and assist on steeper sections. Gorilla permits are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and are strictly limited to eight visitors per gorilla family per day, so we secure your permit well in advance as part of this package to guarantee your trekking date.
