Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for registration and a briefing by park rangers. During the briefing, you will learn about gorilla trekking regulations and be assigned to a gorilla family.

Begin your trek through the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. Trekking can take anywhere from one to several hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. The hike passes through bamboo forests, dense vegetation, and mountain slopes.

Upon locating the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, groom, play, and interact in their natural habitat. This close encounter is one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in Africa. After the trek, return to the park headquarters where you will receive a gorilla trekking certificate.
