Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park, Africa’s oldest national park, is home to mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. The park includes five of the eight Virunga Mountain volcanoes and spans 160 km² of lush rainforest.
Akagera National Park.
Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s biggest national park. It’s ideal for classic game drives as well as exploring the region on foot, which allows for close encounters with wildlife. The National Park has ten lakes, over 500 bird species, and over 8,000 big animals to see on a safari.
Lake Kivu via the Congo-Nile trail.
Lake Kivu is part of the Albertine Rift Valley and one of Africa’s Great Lakes. It is surrounded by mountains and a distinct flora and wildlife. One of the greatest ways to visit the lake is along the famed 227-kilometer-long ‘Congo Nile Trail’. The track may be explored on foot, mountain bike, lake kayak, or a combination of the three. A fantastic journey for nature enthusiasts, as well as an exposure to Rwandan rural life along the way.

Ideal travel season.
Rwanda is an excellent location to visit at any time of the year. The low season is believed to be from October to May, while the hot season is from June to September. In terms of weather, it is considered that Rwanda receives more rain during the low season and is drier during the high season. In recent years, however, we have discovered that the seasons are no longer very trustworthy, as rainfall can occur during the ‘dry season’, and there can be dry spells during the ‘rainy season. When visiting Rwanda, monkey excursions in rainforest environments are often the highlight of the vacation. Rainforests are naturally quite damp, and rain cannot be avoided altogether.

It’s crucial to note that gorilla tracking licences sell out rapidly during peak season. Especially while travelling around July or August. We recommend securing your permissions at least six months in advance. The same applies for Rwanda’s famed high-end lodges, which are sometimes completely booked well in advance.
