Day 1: Kigali – Volcanoes National Park – Kigali

Your adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel or residence in Kigali. You will travel north towards Volcanoes National Park, a journey of approximately two and a half hours through Rwanda’s rolling hills and picturesque landscapes.

Upon arrival at the park headquarters in Kinigi, you will attend a briefing conducted by park rangers. During the briefing, you will learn about gorilla trekking regulations, safety procedures, and conservation efforts. You will then be assigned to a gorilla family and transferred to the starting point of your trek.

The trek takes you through bamboo forests, dense vegetation, and mountain slopes as you search for the gorillas. Trekking duration varies depending on the location of the gorilla family and can take anywhere from one to several hours. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural environment. Watch family members interact, feed, rest, and care for their young while your ranger shares information about their behaviour and conservation.

After the trek, return to the park headquarters and receive your gorilla trekking certificate. Enjoy lunch before beginning the drive back to Kigali, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.
